John “Jack” Everett, 82, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Duluth, Minn.
He grew up in International Falls, attended Falls High School and served in the United States Navy. He retired after 38 years of service at Boise Cascade as a paper tester. While working at the mill he also owned a bar in International Falls called “Jack’s Place.”
Jack married Loral Lee Torfin on March 4, 1965, in St. Paul, Minn. They were married 47 years.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time at his shack in Skime, Minn.
Jack loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at home or at the shack.
He liked playing cards, helping friends, packing the family in his truck and looking for deer, going to casinos, mushroom and berry picking, coin collecting, and bonfires. He enjoyed auctions, loved a good joke, and spending time with friends. Jack always looked forward to his annual fishing trips with Bob and Jack Burns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edith Everett; first wife, Marjorie; daughters, Nancy and Patricia; brothers, Leslie, William, Glen and Chester; sister, Arvil; sons-in-law, Gary Lillis and Pat Bright; daughter-in-law, Alice Everett; and infant granddaughter, Lindsey Korpi.
Jack is survived by his wife, Loral Lee Everett of International Falls; children — Daniel (Kris) Everett, Jaci (Robert) Piekarski and Karen Lillis, all of International Falls, Jody (Randy) Blake of Bemidji, Minn., Gayle Haugland of International Falls, Doug (Liz) Everett of Bangor, Maine, Darin (Hope) Everett of Sheboygan, Wis., Dale Everett and Teri Bright, both of International Falls, Tracy Everett of Roseau, Minn., Tina Everett, Lori (Farron) Nicholson and Toni (Colin) Korpi, all of International Falls; grandchildren — Daniel, Dawn, Doug, Mike, Stephanie, Brian, Kristin, Jason, Chad, Dustin, John, Joe, Jeff, Elizabeth, Miranda, Taylor, Travis, Chelsea, Jordan, Grace, Hannah, Shane, Brady, Karsen, Kaden and Kelsie; great-grandchildren — David, Derek, Libby, Jorie, Maddie, Thomas, Tim, Lucy, Charlie, Brandon, Lily, Aubrey, Jayden, Brynne, Griffin, Logan, Erin, Reece, Logan, Maliha, Xenia, Jaxon, Wyatt and Mykenzie; sister-in-law, Karen (David) Zaren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Zion Lutheran Church with full military rites.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
