Falls High School ninth graders pose at Kettle Falls last week during a field trip around Voyageurs National Park. Park interpreters gave a history of the park and students travelled the Kabetogama, Namaken and Rainy Lake systems. The groups boarded the “Voyageur” and pontoons, where lessons on lake navigation, local nesting birds, water shed dynamics, mining and logging took place. Students took nature walks at Kettle Falls detailing the position and history of the hotel. Park staff also gave a lesson on water level maintenance through management at the dam.
