Lewis Marble

Lewis Vivian Marble went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2012. He was hit crossing the highway on his four-wheeler.

Lewis was born in Cloquet, Minn., on Nov. 5, 1926, to Adeline and Vivian Marble, of Ray, Minn.

He grew up in Ray, attending school there and in International Falls, Minn.

He spent his life hunting and trapping on the Rat Root River from the time he was a young boy, and at 85, was still at it.

After spending two years in the service, most of it in Japan, Lewis returned home to Ray. He and his father raised mink for many years.

In 1950, he started working for Mando, now Boise. Lewis was a master steamfitter and retired in December 1988.

In 1950, Lewis married Barbara Clark of Belle Fourche, S.D. Together they raised three sons.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Steven (Patti), Kevin and Rodney (Charlotte) Marble; sister, Sue (Bob) Schmidt; grandchildren, Clayton (Tammy) Ahlbeck, Jean (Kyle) Lein, RJ Marble, and Sara (Sam) Galvin; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jake, Brady, and Kian Ahlbeck, Asher and Olivia Lein, and Amelia Galvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Ewald; daughter-in-law, Joyce Marble; and grandchildren, Kevin Marble Jr. and Kallie Marble. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Northwoods Bible Church, Ray.

Interment will be at the Lyman Cemetery, Ray.
