Lori Pelto, 42, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the St. Cloud hospital.
Born Nov. 3, 1970, in International Falls, she was the daughter of Marilyn Phillips and the late Gary Pelto. She was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor 27 years ago and far exceeded most professional life expectancy estimates.
Lori liked to fish, collect dolphins, which most of them she got in Mexico where she loved to go. In fact, her last birthday she wanted to spend in Arizona with her mother and made sure she was taken to Mexico twice.
She graduated form Shakopee High School in 1989 and later went to one year of college at St. Kates.
She is survived by her mother; brother, Bob; sister, Lisa (John) Follmer; nephews, Joseph and Jake; niece, Jani; great-niece, Jordyn; uncles, Dennis (Carol) Vohler and Ron (Mary) Pelto; grandmother, Betty Pelto; and aunts, Nancy (Pat) Campbell and Joyce Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary; step fathers, Ken Busch and Richard Phillips; grandparents, Joseph Vohler, Anne Vohler Micknal and Bill Pelto; and step grandfather, Kash Micknal.
A memorial service will be conducted in the spring in International Falls.
Services were provided by the Minnesota Cremation Society Chapel located in Brooklyn Park.
