Marjorie Hopfner

Marjorie Hopfner, 89, was granted her angel wings Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Rainy Lake Medical Center. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends and her beloved pet Lucy.

Marjorie was born July 19, 1923, in Hines, Minn., to James and Pearl Yarno.

She graduated in Deer River, Minn.

On June 19, she married the love of her life, Richard Hopfner.

Marjorie loved spending time with her family and friends and often talked about how blessed she was to have them in her life.

She always had lots of stories to tell.

She was a devoted animal lover and had a passion for helping all the animals in need.

Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing, knitting, cooking, and volunteering her time.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Richard, of 70 years; son, Phil (Wendy) Hopfner; daughter, Patty (Jerry) Selander; grandchildren, Greg (Kristi) Eberhart, Kym Hopfner, Craig (Alicia) Selander, Cindy (Ron) Gilbertson and Trina (Vince) Nguyen; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Nicole, Chloe, Grace, Mya, Mikey, Aubrie, Riley and Ava; and special friend, Mary.

Marjorie was preceded in death by sons, Michael and Gregory; parents, James and Pearl Yarno; brothers, Harold, Melvin, George, Lee, Donnie and Ivan; and sister, Hazel.

A celebration of Marjorie’s life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to the Borderland Humane Society in International Falls, Minn.
