Mavis McCauley

Mavis McCauley, 80, was called home by her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in her sleep at the Benedictine Health Care Center, Duluth, Minn.

Mavis was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Elkton, S.D., to Margaret and Ben Vaske.

She had been a resident of Littlefork, Minn., most of her life.

Mavis met and married the love of her life, Milton McCauley, and had seven children together.

Mavis graduated from Presentation Nursing College in Aberdeen, S.D., and practiced as a registered nurse for over 40 years, including many years in Littlefork and International Falls, Minn.

Mavis had many passions in her life which included her children and grandchildren, her church, reading, gardening and the family cabin.

She was also an active advocate for Right to Life.

Mavis had a smile for everyone and had no complaints, given the many trials that she faced.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; her love, Milton; her son, Mickey; two brothers; and five sisters.

Mavis is survived by her sons, Tom (Lori), Tim (Rebecca), Paul (Cathy) and Rich (Paula); her daughters, Beth (Darren) Quaas and Meg (Patrick); along with her grandchildren, Rick, Emily, Jacob, Jonah, Isaac, Anna and Mickey; one sister, Mary; brothers, Clayton (Arlene), Jim (Beverly), Herb (Mildred), Ken (Dora) and Bill (Bermae); and many special nieces and nephews.

Memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at St. Columban’s Catholic Church, Littlefork.
