Norbert Joseph Goulet

Norbert Joseph Goulet was born April 10, 1933 in Warroad, Minn., to Lawrence and Anna Goulet. He entered into heaven July 21, 2013 in Crestview, Fla.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Anna Goulet; sister, Loretta Goulet; stepson, Ervin Selberg and step grandson, Christopher Burnette.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Etta Jean Goulet; daughter, Dorothy (Gary) Weisz; step daughter, Armetta (Bill) Stupek; grandchildren Tammy Goode, Gary (Jennifer) Weisz; great grandchildren Stori (Steven) Henderson, Billy Goode, Chance Goode, Mickelly Goode, Logan Weisz, Cailin Weisz, Hailey Weisz, Brody Weisz; Great-great grandchildren Cadence, Draven and Raylynne Henderson all of Florida, numerous step-grandchildren, and step great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Eleanor Grecco.

While Norbert was raised as a young child on the Northwest Angle, he spent his adult life in the Falls. He was in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He lived on Rainy Lake over 40 years with his wife Etta Jean on his beloved island.

He was widely known and well liked and never met a stranger. During his life he had many achievements, he was an experienced pilot, carpenter, boat captain, and Citizen of the Year. He worked for the city engineering department, was a structural draftsman for Boise Cascade, carpenter and boat captain for Voyagers National Park, carpenter at Island View Lodge where he added the deck and the rooms upstairs. He was also a caretaker at Kettle Falls, Camp Koochiching and Sportsmans Dock.

Norbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 2948, Moose Lodge, Elks and the American Legion. His hobbies included cutting wood, driving his boat, writing and telling his stories about his life adventures.

There will be a celebration of his life at the Elks Lodge, date to be announced.
