Ronald 'Jack' Pickar

Ronald “Jack” Pickar, 80, of Littlefork, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at his home.

Jack was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Littlefork, Minn. He was a lifelong resident there and graduated from Littlefork High School in the Class of 1949.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1953.

He married Kathleen Bratten in 1953 at St. Columban Catholic Church in Littlefork.

He retired from Boise Cascade Woodlands department in 1996. 

He enjoyed gardening, ice fishing, hunting, shooting the breeze, listening to polka, dancing, and watching Bonanza.

He was a member of St. Columban Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Pickar; parents, Barney and Augusta Pickar; grandson, Jeremy Burke; brother, Bud Pickar; and sister, Evelyn Dawes. 

Jack is survived by sons, Ken (Devin) Pickar of Warroad, Minn., Mark (Amy) Pickar of Cannon Falls, Minn., and Patrick (Michelle) Pickar of Park Rapids, Minn.; daughters, Teresa Pickar of Littlefork, Minn., and Tara (Dan) Arndt of Trophy Club, Texas; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis Pickar of Ham Lake, Minn., and Leonard Pickar of Hastings, Minn.; sisters, Beverly Holcomb of Grangeville, Idaho, and Shirley Whitbeck of International Falls, Minn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at St. Columban Catholic Church, Littlefork, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. Columban Catholic Church, Littlefork, with flag presentation.

Interment will be at Oakley Cemetery, Littlefork.
