Sandra Thunstrom

Sandra Lynn Thunstrom, age 71, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at Rainy Lake Medical Center hospital campus.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keenan Drive, International Falls.

Interment will be at Indus Cemetery, Indus Minn., later this summer.

Sandy was born July 14, 1941, the daughter of Edwin and Neita Thunstrom.

Sandy was baptized at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was a faithful member.

Sandy graduated from Bemidji State with a number of degrees, and went on to teach art for a number of years in Fort Frances.

She lived almost her entire life in International Falls, and in later years, helped care for her aging mother.

Sandy enjoyed learning about everything, visiting with friends, attending church gatherings and spending time with family.

She also had a passion for her Siberian cats, which she raised and cherished. Sandy also loved horses, never missing a Kentucky Derby, as well as the other races.

She also found great enjoyment in feeding the birds, deer, rabbits and any other woodland creatures that stopped by for a snack.

Sandy is survived by her niece, Dana (Jeff) Bartheld of Princeton, Minn., and great-nephew, Allen (Lesley) Kruse and great-great nieces and nephews, Logan, Emma, Marissa and Scott Kruse, all of Beatrice, Neb. She is also survived by many of her church family, whose friendship she cherished.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Neita Thunstrom; sister, Yvonne Batdorf; and great niece, Jenny Kruse.

Sandy’s family and church family would like to welcome everyone to a luncheon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keenan Drive, International Falls, following the memorial service.

The family would prefer memorials in her memory.
