DHS Report
The Minnesota Department of Human Services is seeking applications for membership on the Problem Gambling Advisory Committee. Each of the 15 members of the committee is appointed to a two-year term by the commissioner of DHS; members can serve a maximum of six years. The application deadline is July 16.
The committee provides recommendations to DHS to ensure a comprehensive continuum of gambling prevention and treatment services is available to all Minnesota residents. This includes providing assistance to individuals and families affected by gambling problems and developing prevention strategies, including education and awareness. The committee meets every other month from September through May.
In making appointments, consideration is given to achieving demographic diversity, as well as geographic, age, gender and cultural balance. Other factors include consideration of individuals in recovery, the applicant’s area of interest and knowledge of the state’s compulsive and problem gambling services.
Interested individuals should complete an application form or request one by sending an email to DHS.compulsivegambling@state.mn.us.
