Littlefork-Big Falls Superintendent Fred Seybert wants students to feel as comfortable as possible when they come back to school Sept. 6. In an effort to ease some butterflies in the stomach of both students and parents, Back to School Night will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the school.

“The night is an opportunity for students and teachers to get acquainted, students can receive their class schedules, and expectations can be figured out,” Seybert said.

In the past, Seybert said the night has been well received by students, parents, teachers, and staff at L-BF.

“We offer tours of the school that evening, too,” Seybert added. “Elementary students entering the high school may be a little unsure of where to go. We want them and their parents to become familiar with their new environment.”

Seybert said he was looking forward to the new year and for students to see upgrades that have happened at the school.

New rubberized flooring has been installed in the fitness center and two new scoreboards, courtesy of TruStar Federal Credit Union, have been placed in the gymnasium.

L-BF has also undergone several technological updates. The school received three new additional Smart Boards, or interactive whiteboards in classrooms.

“We also have two new computer projectors and have updated our surveillance camera server so it is more reliable,” Seybert noted.

He said that staff computers were also upgraded and updated.

New faces at the L-BF school will include Nicole Friend, who will be teaching high school math; Marni Kostiuk will be teaching elementary special education; and Aaron Pinske will be a part-time social studies teacher.

“I think it will be a good year,” Seybert said. “Enrollment is steady and holding its own. It’ll be a good year.”
