Koochiching County commissioners Tuesday are scheduled to consider a request by the Rural Fire Protection Association to expand a taxing district to provide fire protection to about 200 cabins on Rainy Lake islands.

The county board meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the boardroom at the courthouse. An agenda is considered tentative until the government body begins the meeting and makes additions or deletions to the proposed agenda.

The board is scheduled to discuss the RFPA proposal at 11 a.m.

The board is scheduled to meet in committee at 1:30 p.m. to review the services of the United States Border Patrol with representatives of the agency. In addition, the board is expected to review the Beyond the Border Action Plan of the Canadian and U.S. governments.

In other county business, the board is scheduled at 9:50 a.m. to consider dock repair at the county’s campsites on Rainy Lake’s Black Bay.

At 9:55 a.m., the board is expected to hear about the Planning Commission’s approval of a temporary asphalt plant for Anderson Brothers Construction for the state Highway 11 west road project.

At 10:05 a.m., commissioners are scheduled consider a plan for designation of county state aid high status on roads, including County Road 107.

At 10:40 a.m., the board is expected to hear a report from Craig Halla on the purchase by the Molpus Woodlands Group of Forest Capital Partners’ Minnesota timberlands portfolio.

A public comment period, when the public may address the board on any topic, is scheduled to follow the 11 a.m. RFPA discussion.
