Visitor center closed
Voyageurs National Park’s Rainy Lake Visitor Center will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving Day. The visitor center will be open Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Project Bookshelf
Project Bookshelf is back. The Friends of the Library are again sponsoring this program to help make sure every child has books to call their own at home. The Friends ask that those who wish to participate purchase a new book for a preschool child, wrap it and bring it to the library for the county’s Headstart children to get at their holiday party. All books need to be received at the library by Dec. 8.
Blood sugar screenings
Free blood sugar screenings are set for 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Koochiching County Health Department office, 1000 Fifth St.
Book club
Rainy River Book Club will meet at noon Saturday at Lenard’s. Book for discussion is “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Healing service
A healing service (with Reiki) is planned for 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Faith United Church, 1001 Fifth St.
Loon-a-Ticks
The Red Hat Loon-a-Ticks will meet for lunch at noon Monday at Giovanni’s Restaurant.
Art open house
Northland Art Society will host an open house in the art studio in the Backus Community Center, Room 114, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Several handcrafted items by local artists will be for sale.
