Signs just went up last week for the AmericInn in on Highway 71 in International Falls.
Four new owners purchased the Holiday Inn on May 25 and have chosen the AmericInn franchise for the 126-room hotel.
Extensive renovations will be made to the property, said General Manager Michael Carpenter.
Updates to the landscaping and grounds, new carpets, new signs and rooms. including televisions and bedding, are underway. Other updates such as themed suites and pool area renovations are planned.
“This (hotel) was once the pride and joy of this town,” Carpenter said. The manager and owners’ goal is to restore the property to exceed even those standards, he said.
The hotel offers free continental breakfast to its guests. They have an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and game room. The hotel also includes a fitness center and gardens overlooking the Rainy River.
The AmericInn will continue to offer weddings, banquets, meeting hall space and rooms for other special events.
The restaurant in the hotel is now Lenards. Lenard Bobst of Grandma’s Pantry has opened the restaurant, which will include many of the Ranier restaurant’s famous dishes and desserts. Lenards is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
