Niki Bergstrom opens business to end clutter, streamline a space
Many people dread opening a closet, drawer or cupboard and putting everything in its place.
But Niki Bergstrom has a passion for organizing. She recently took another step in her organizing business by opening an office in the downtown, 326 Third Street, location.
“Honestly most professional organizers would agree that we don’t necessarily choose organizing as a profession, but rather the talent for organizing comes rather naturally,” Bergstrom said.
Her family has played a large part in her decision to start an organization business, Organize 2 Survive. Bergstrom said her husband commented that she would be a good organizer after they watched the television show “Hoarders,” of which she says they are avid fans.
From there, she researched the potential for a business that would take her skill and hobby of organizing for family and friends to a new level.
But her three young children have nurtured in her the skill that she feels comes naturally.
“I have 13-month-old twin boys and a 4-year-old boy who keep me very busy, so essentially staying organized is necessary for survival. Hence my business name ‘Organize 2 Survive,’” she explained.
Through this business, she works with clients in their homes or businesses to get rid of clutter and set up a system that works well for them at their space.
She gave examples of three groups of people who may benefit from organization: busy parents, senior citizens moving into assisted living and empty nesters whose room functions change.
“By far the most rewarding part of my career is making a difference daily in my clients lives,” Bergstrom said. “When you have an organized space, you are better able to relax and enjoy your home. For those clients in the office, they are able to maintain focus without the visual distraction of clutter and complete tasks more efficiently.”
She has recently begun working with International Falls Community Education in holding twice-monthly organizing workshops at her office. The workshops are geared to mainstream organizing systems like kitchens, storage, and home offices, she explained.
Bergstrom has a side business selling organizational containers. She holds evening and weekend home, cafe, and catalog parties for people around the county.
Bergstrom will hold an open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coffee Landing Cafe. She will be closing out her past direct sales business, Clever Container, and showcasing the new organizing products from Organize-It.
