Funds raised through safety records of employees at Boise Inc.’s International Falls paper mill are available to charitable organizations in Koochiching County.

The local Community Charitable Giving program sets aside $5 every month for each employee who reaches a safety point target designed around activities that improve safety in the workplace. These funds are available to local non-profit organizations to use to strengthen safety, health or education in the community.

For more information on how to apply for funding and the rules associated with safety fund distribution, contact Lori Lyman, Boise public affairs manager, at lorilyman@boisepaper.com

Beginning in July, the amount of money set aside for charities will increase as more employees reach the monthly safety point target, Lyman said.

“Enhancing charitable giving that is a direct result of employee safety efforts is a win for everyone,” she said. “Along with the public recognition of employees and their commitment to safety, increased participation contributes to a safer workplace, and charitable organizations gain much-needed funding.”
