Area gardeners are encouraged to plant an extra row or two this spring to add to the offerings at Fresh Start Farmers Market in Baudette.

Fresh Start Farmers Market is a community-based experience that will offer the opportunity to sell and purchase fresh produce, dairy items, grains, honey products, fresh farm eggs, and a wide variety of pantry products, according to organizers.

The market will be a place where local farmers, home gardeners, harvesters and crafters will gather to sell their products directly to the public, and provide an opportunity to come together, exchange goods and be a part of a community experience. Preserved fruits and veggies, making creative breads and sweet treats, as well as artistic offerings will be available.

The Fresh Start Farmers Market recently received a call with an invitation to be a part of Minnesota Grown, a state wide publication for those traveling throughout Minnesota looking for Minnesota grown products, and farmers markets. In addition to the publication, The Fresh Start Farmers Market is now a member of the Minnesota Farmers Market Association. See more about Minnesota Grown at www.minnesotagrown.com, enter zip code 56623 and click on Fresh Start Farmers Market. The Minnesota Farmers Market Association is located at www.mfma, click on markets at the bottom of the page.

Booth spaces are based on a 3-foot (card table) area for $5. A 6-foot table space is $10. Booth space fees provide highway exposure, publication exposure and association fees to promote the market.

Fresh Start Farmers Market will operate every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting June 9 through October (depending on the weather) at Howard’s Cenex 509 Main, on Highway 11 in Baudette.

To reserve a space, or for more information, contact Cindi McDougall or Lynda Annoreno at 218-634-2176 or email Peace2EWE@centurylink.net.

The market is looking to build a staff of volunteer Market Aides to help with market day activities. People who wish to be an active part of this community building experience are encouraged to participate.
