The Koochiching Economic Development Authority Board is scheduled to discuss filling a vacant seat on the board when it meets Wednesday.

The KEDA meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the Koochiching County Courthouse boardroom. An agenda is considered tentative until the government body begins the meeting and makes additions or deletions to the proposed agenda.

In February, KEDA board member Mike Fairchild resigned from his position on the board. Fairchild’s alternate, Soren Olesen, will fill the seat until a permanent member has been selected. Paul Nevanen, KEDA director, said Olesen has indicated he would be willing to fill the position permanently should the board decide to accept his application. Nevanen said the board received a total of two applications for the position.

Once the board decides who will take Fairchild’s spot, an alternate will also need to be determined.

In other action Wednesday, the board is expected to hear from Jenny Dougherty, business consultant for the Small Business Development Center. Dougherty provides the board with quarterly updates on activities with SBDC.

The board is also scheduled to hear about the ongoing lease agreement with a potential customer to construct a second cold box for cold weather testing purposes.
