Jordan Pearson said he has energy, motivation and a good work ethic on his side.

The 24-year-old Falls native will soon open his own real estate business – True North Realty Inc. – located at 445 Third Street, across from The Coffee Landing Cafe.

“I’ve always wanted to own a business,” the former Century 21 agent told The Journal this week. “Since the day I started selling houses, I knew I wanted to be a real estate broker.”

Pearson got his start in 2009 with the local Century 21 agency. He said he decided to pursue a career in real estate because of his love of houses and design.

“My plan was to go to real estate school and see if it was for me,” Pearson said of the business. “If I sold one house and didn’t enjoy it, I was only going to work until I could pay myself back for my training...if I liked it, I was going to stay with it, and here I am.”

He said he instantly got along with the home selling-and-buying business and knew it was what he wanted to do in life, he said.

Pearson’s resume has grown extensively throughout his four-year career and he admits he has sold “too many houses to count.”

“It is so fun driving through neighborhoods and seeing houses that I’ve been involved in the transaction with,” he said.

Last November, Pearson said he considered moving to Duluth to get a taste of life in a bigger community. He accepted a job as a financial adviser for Edward Jones and prepared for the move.

“I worked from home for Edward Jones for awhile and decided International Falls is where my friends and family are,” he said. “I just decided to stay.”

The decision left Pearson at a crossroads: He could go back to working as real estate agent or he could follow his dream to become a business owner.

“I decided to take some time off,” he said. “I took time for me and put some thought into what I really wanted to do in life...after a lot of thought, homework and some good advice from good people, I decided that going out on my own was the direction I needed to take.”

Pearson went to broker school, passed the required tests and kicked off efforts to establish his own business.

He expects to open his doors soon with plans to expand his staff to at least three agents by next month.

“I’m just going to hit the ground running,” Pearson said of his business. “I have so much motivation and I am just really excited. I plan to bring new energy to the real estate market in International Falls.”

Pearson said he already has interest and support from the community.

“The support is overwhelming,” he said. “It solidifies my decision to stay in town.”

The broker plans to utilize word of mouth, advertising and social media to grow a successful business. True North Realty can be found on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and its own website www.truenorthrealtyinc.com. The business can also be contacted at 283-7777.

“This is my baby,” Pearson said of True North Realty. “I’m at a great stage in my life to do this, I have a great track record of sales and my business is going to be run well. This is going to be my lifestyle.”
