Loretta Ojala believes if someone looks good, they feel good.
And after 24 years of helping to make that happen, she’s moving on to the next stage in life – retirement.
“It’s time,” the owner of Loretta’s Skin Care Plus said. “I’m going to miss it, but it’s time to be done.”
While she is taking appointments through January, Ojala will close the doors of her Third Street shop at the end of the month. The decision is bittersweet and closes a chapter of Ojala’s life that she will miss.
“I like working,” she said. “I’ve met some great people who I wouldn’t have met if I wasn’t doing this.”
Throughout her life, Ojala’s career choices have involved working with her hands. She started as a nurse in Minneapolis, worked alongside her husband as a dental assistant and settled on an esthetician in her early 50s.
An esthetician provides preventative care for skin and offers treatments to keep skin healthy and attractive. Ojala said her commitment to her clients is to customize skin care needs on a personal basis.
“Looking good is feeling good and nobody can tell me otherwise,” she said.
During the last two decades, Ojala has taken on different specialties and certifications including Swedish massage, reflexology, advanced skin analysis, light rejuvenation therapy, and is a certified color consultant.
“Wrong colors give you a pull and the right colors give you a lift,” she said. “I enjoy helping people find that... I’ve really enjoyed what I do over the last 24 years... I will miss it.”
