The International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will host a legislative update July 12 when Minnesota Sen. Tom Bakk and Rep. David Dill are scheduled to speak about issues involving Borderland.
The update will be presented at a noon public luncheon to be held at AmericInn in the Falls. The community is invited to attend.
The redrawing of Minnesota’s legislative district boundaries has shifted representation and Bakk and Dill may be elected as the new representatives for the International Falls area . Also seeking the position of District 3 senator is Jennifer Havlick of Two Harbors. Seeking the position of House District 3A representative is Jim Tuomala, Babbitt.
Rep. Tom Anzelc and Sen. Tom Saxhaug serve the area until January, when newly elected lawmakers will be seated after the election.
The July 12 luncheon will feature a hot buffet with the legislators’ presentations beginning at noon. The cost for lunch is $9 inclusive and those who plan to attend should RSVP the Chamber of Commerce at 283-9400 or faye@intlfalls.org. The luncheon is part of the Chamber’s current Goals and Action Plan and is held in partnership with the city of International Falls.
