Customers of Tim Hortons in International Falls were informed Monday that the restaurant was closing its doors that afternoon.
A customer told The Journal she was informed by a Tim Hortons employee that it was closing early Monday and would not be reopening. A sign on the door of the business said the business was closing at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
News of the closure spread across social media sites noting employees were given little notice of the decision.
According to a news report, the Canadian coffee-and-doughnuts chain was closing many of its locations in the Twin Cities.
When The Journal drove by the restaurant Tuesday, a car was sitting in the drive-thru, but menus had been removed from boards, chairs were being removed from the outdoor seating area and equipment was being cleared out from inside.
The business opened its International Falls location in 2017.
