Former Littlefork resident Lynn Winkel has returned to Borderland and is the newest chiropractor at Advanced Chiropractic Center.
Winkel joins the practice with chiropractor Gary Potter across from SuperOne in International Falls.
“I had a good experience with my chiropractor and I think the body has an amazing way of healing itself,” Winkel explained, summing why she got into the field.
She called chiropractic a more holistic approach to medicine. Chiropractic emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine.
She said one reward of being a chiropractor comes in helping people treat issues they didn’t know could be treated through chiropractic, such as sleep disorders. Winkel said pain is one of the last symptoms people experience, and often undiagnosed side effects can be treated with chiropractic.
Winkel attended undergraduate school at St. Scholastica and did doctoral chiropractic studies at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington.
Outside of chiropractic, Winkel enjoys running and has twice participated in Grandma’s Half Marathon.
Winkel will work in International Falls a full day Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, she expects to accompany Potter to Baudette to practice there.
