Women’s Business Network holds first retreat as networking event and day of relaxation
Area women took off their shoes, put on a soothing neck wrap, practiced deep breathing and relaxed as they enjoyed the company of other area female business leaders during a recent retreat for the Women’s Business Network.
About a dozen women gathered Friday at Tara’s Wharf, overlooking the water in Ranier, for the part networking event, part spa retreat.
Jenny Dougherty, Small Business Development Center, and Dixie Kalstad, Koochiching Economic Development Authority, organized the monthly Women’s Business Network and the retreat.
The idea for the retreat came from a Women’s Business Network member at a previous monthly meeting, Dougherty said, and the turnout provided the proper balance of time for each participant to be included and network with other area women.
“I think we did really good networking,” Dougherty said. “We shared ideas on how to market products. It’s a good support network for women who are in business for themselves.
“It gave people a lot more time to network deeper; a lot more information,” she continued.
Presenters included Lynn Winkel on chiropractic; Christa Heibel on yoga; Jeanne Corrin on essential oils; Bobbi Smith on meal replacement shakes and supplements; Carol Schumacher with neck wraps and beauty products; and lunch provided by Stephanie Rognerud.
The event was also a Falls Hunger Coalition fundraiser and brought in $50 plus food donations for the cause.
The next regular Women’s Business Network meeting is March 10. For more information on the Women’s Business Network, contact KEDA at 283-8585.
