In an age when Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are gaining importance in the business world, protecting an organization from social media’s legal issues is becoming more urgent.
That is the focus of a free workshop available through the International Falls area Small Business Development Center to be held Aug. 23.
The event, “The Uncharted Legal Waters of Social Media,” is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. at Rainy River Community College in Room SC-114.
RRCC is located at 1501 Highway 71 in International Falls. For the workshop, enter through door No. 5 of the building.
The workshop will offer discussion about how social media, while used as a promotion tool, can also present privacy and safety concerns relating to an organization.
The presentation is expected to highlight relevant laws, apply them to real-life social media situations, and give businesses strategies to protect its organization from harm.
To register for the free workshop, contact the Koochiching Economic Development Authority office at 283-8585 or email to keda@businessupnorth.com.
