Littlefork Medical Center Staff Report

In observance of Nursing Home Week, May 13-19, the Littlefork Medical Center will host a series of events designed to celebrate the lives and relationships of residents, families and staff. The theme of the week is “Celebrating the Journey.”

“Our residents have lived full lives and we want to honor each and every person who has allowed us to journey with them,” said Kimberly Perkins, administrator of the Littlefork Medical Center. “And this is a perfect opportunity to involve families, community members, youth and others in our community who share our respect for the elderly and disabled living among us.”

Some of the week’s special events include:

Square dancers will perform at 1 p.m. Sunday.

“I Love Lucy Day” is set for Monday with a chocolate tasting event.

“50s Day” will be observed Tuesday. Dress down day for staff; dress in favorite 50s outfit. Staff Hula Hoop contest, followed with ice cream floats and 50s music.

“Elvis at the Hop” is set for 3 p.m. May 16. An “Horsd’oeuvre Party” with French fries and onion rings served. Dress in Elvis outfits — anyone do Elvis impressions?

“Diner Day” is planned for noon May 17, as it wouldn’t be the 50s without burgers, fries and shakes for lunch.

At 3 p.m. May 18, banana splits will be served to all.

National Nursing Home Week is an annual observance sponsored nationally by the American Health Care Association, based in Washington, D.C.
