The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order by president Linda Chezick at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 with 13 members present. Eighth District Senior Vice President Rita Skyberg conducted an inspection of the books and was a guest at the meeting.

The opening ritual was held and roll call of officers conducted. Guard was Pat DeLapp, pro-tem and Irene Anderson served as conductress, pro-tem.

There were no petitions for membership and one transfer of membership from Deer River Post 2720. Diane Huntington, a life member, asked to transfer her membership to International Falls.

Correspondence as well as the General Orders were read.

A POW/MIA flag was donated to the city of International Falls and placed on the flagpole next to the Chamber of Commerce.

Bingo is planned for Oct. 18 at the Good Samaritan Society-International Falls. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 2:15 p.m. Pies will be served Nov. 8 at Littlefork Care Center.

DeLapp reported that membership is at 77.25 percent. Dues need to be paid no later than Dec. 1; two reminders have been mailed to members.

Books for the Avon fundraiser are here and orders can be taken until Oct. 19.

A leaf pick-up day is set for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 27. Those wishing to participate are to meet at the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Veterans Day programs are scheduled for Nov. 12 at 8 a.m. at Falls Elementary School; 9 a.m., Good Samaritan Society-International Falls; 11 a.m., St. Thomas School; and 2 p.m. at Indus School.

The charter was draped in memory of Vivian Ettestad, Phyllis Anderson and Millie Underdahl.

Donations were made to the Silver Bay Veterans Home for the Halloween Party, St. Cloud Veterans Home for Christmas gifts, and to purchase Avon products for Silver Bay Veterans Home residents.

For the Good of the Order, vote on Nov. 6.

Door prize was won by Marguerite Kostiuk.

The meeting concluded at 8:55 with the closing ceremonies.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Post dining room.
