The Ice Box of the Nation Chapter of AARP met for lunch, a presentation by the staff of Falls Good Samaritan Center, and a social time, at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 16 with the other lunch participants of the Koochiching County Senior Center noon food program.
Adam Coe, care center administrator and the home activities director, spoke of plans for a new facility and the many modernizations and upgrades they expect to be included in the new home. Single occupancy rooms with private bathrooms are planned for as is the continuation of areas for therapy and recreational activities.
Ground breaking is planned for 2012, fund raising is active and memorials and gifts donations would be most welcome. The new facility is to be sited near the present clinic and expects a new hospital to also be closely aligned with the care center.
Following the presentation, a lunch of roast beef with all the trimmings was served by the senior center staff.
Chapter members then met for a social hour. President Tom Wagner reminded members that in October we return to our regular schedule of meetings: the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. at Koochiching County Senior Center. Chrystal Clance will be hostess for the refreshments served Oct. 13. All area senior citizens interested in local news and events are welcome to attend this meeting.
