RSVP Bone Builders Report
Ellen Davis, regent of the Lady Slippers Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, with Betty Jo Berg and Donna Small, are volunteer leaders for the Baudette Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Bone Builders classes which take place at 1 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at the Brink Center. The average class size is now 20 participants.
RSVP Bone Builders is an exercise program that incorporates strength training, balance training, stretching and fun all wrapped up into one-hour and twice-a-week exercise sessions.
Volunteer leaders lead participants through a one-hour program specifically designed to prevent or reverse bone loss and relieve arthritic pain. Each session includes a discussion about topics such as fall prevention, heart health, proper nutrition, vitamins and safety.
Ninety-seven percent of Bone Builder participants say they have had a noticeable increase in strength and positive state of mind. Eighty-six percent of the participants say they have had a noticeable increase in energy levels.
