The International Falls night will be brighter this evening with the annual “‘Twas the Lights Before Christmas Parade.”

The parade will run its usual route downtown towards Backus Community Center starting at 7 p.m.

International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce President Betsy Jensen explained that this is a family oriented event with lights, music, and even a sighting of Santa Claus.

Jamie Nelson’s sled dogs will pull Santa on a sleigh. After the parade, rides from Nelson will be offered at Smokey Bear Park, along with hot chocolate and cookies.

Before the parade, from 4-7 p.m., there will be a Falls Good Samaritan beef stew dinner, music from “King of the Road Entertainment” John Streiff, and Gary Mann will give rides on his horse-drawn carriage.

These events are part of the “Hometown Holiday Shopping Weekend.”

Saturday at noon, Cine 5 Theatre will show free family-friendly holiday movies. Kids will get another chance to visit with Santa during this event. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
