Border State Bank Staff Report
Border State Bank of International Falls recently completed their annual Partnering For A Purpose Food Drive. During the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, they collected 1,406 pounds of food items and $2,769 in cash donations. Border State Bank matched $1,000 of monetary donations. All contributions benefited Falls Hunger Coalition.
“On behalf of everyone here at Border State Bank, we would like to thank the community for their involvement and for all of their donations. It is true that with a little help from our friends we can all get by. We live in a very generous and caring community. I would also like to thank the staff. They work so hard to make all of our events a success,” said president David Hebig.
Border State Bank of International Falls has been raising money for Falls Hunger Coalition since 2004 and has done the Partnering For A Purpose Food Drive since 2008. This year’s food donations broke the record from 2010 when 1038 pounds of food items were donated.
Minnesota FoodShare raised almost $8.5 million in monetary donations and more than 4.4 million pounds of food in March, making this another record breaking year. Organizers say the food collected — combined with the buying power of the monetary donations — means more than 38 million pounds of food will be distributed by local food shelves statewide.
