Stories in the Park
Stories in the Park will begin at 6 p.m. tonight at Smokey Bear Park. The public is welcome to join in for 30 to 40 minutes of space stories and more. For all ages.
Family Gaming
Family Gaming at International Falls Public Library is set for 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. Families are welcome to play games together on the three Wiis available and a large selection of board games.
Summer string
workshop
Rainy Lake Community Orchestra summer string workshop begins Sunday with rehearsals through Thursday. Rehearsals Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday will be at 4 p.m. for the Youth Orchestra and 5:30 for the Adult Orchestra at Ranier Community Building. Monday, Youth will be at 4 at Ranier Community Building and the Adults at 5:30 at The Dungeon at Backus. Tuesday, both rehearsals, Youth at 4 and Adults at 5:30, will be at The Dungeon. The workshop is free for participating musicians. The public is welcome to a free concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at Ranier Community Building. Youth hockey
equipment wanted
The Girls’ Hockey Booster Club, with the help of Milt at the Sports Shop Downtown, is collecting hockey equipment to be used for the girls’ hockey program. Anyone wishing to donate gently used equipment can drop it off at the Sports Shop Downtown. Equipment collected will be used to “Build-A-Bag” for girls wishing to join hockey. Girls wishing to utilize these donations should watch for further details at recreation hockey registration.
Vacation Bible School
“Operation Overboard” Vacation Bible School will be conducted Sunday through Wednesday at Faith United Church of Christ. Sunday it will begin after the worship service, and Monday through Wednesday will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Children ages 4 and up are welcome. Register from 9 a.m. to noon at the church, 283-2486.
Blood drive

VNP program
Starry, Starry Night: Night Explorer Series — “Wonders of the Night Sky” at Voyageurs National Park, is planned for 8 p.m. Friday at Rainy Lake Visitor Center. Weather permitting, the inside portion will be followed by outside viewing of the night’s season constellations. “Dark” Ranger Kim Reich will be available to help those who wonder how to locate constellations in the night sky, how the colors are formed in the Northern Lights, or why the moon is not seen every night. This program is sponsored by Voyageurs National Park Association. No fee or registration is required to attend. Recommended ages 10 and up.
Good Old Summer Days Party
A Good Old Summer Days Party is set for Tuesday at Koochiching County Senior Center, 307 Fourth St. Music by Don and Arnie will begin at 10:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon.
