Columbus Day closure
The Solid Waste Transfer Station/Recycling Center will be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day. Normal operating hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 to 1 Saturday. For more information, contact Koochiching County Environmental Services Department at 283-1157.
Soup supper
The First Thursday Soup Supper is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Backus Community Center. The $6 per person cost includes soup, bread, crackers, dessert and beverage. The public is welcome.
