Scouting for Food drive
Local Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be collecting food for the Falls Hunger Coalition on Oct. 14. Those wishing to participate are asked to have a bag of non perishable, unopened and not outdated food items near the home’s front entrance by 1 p.m. If donating by check, make payable to Falls Hunger Coalition or FHC. Most needed items include juice, peanut butter, canned meals, fruit, canned meats, pasta, rice, hot and cold cereals.
VFW Ladies Auxiliary
The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Post Home, 1416 Third Ave.-Highway 53. A light lunch will follow the meeting. Members are encouraged to attend.
Business network
International Women’s Business Network will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Coffee Landing Café. Lunch is available for $10. The Women’s Business Network is for business and professional women who are committed to the growth and development of themselves, their business and the community. The goals of the WBN are to mentor each other, network with each other and provide information and resources for each other. Basketball clinic
A basketball clinic be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Backus Community Center gymnasium. Boys and girls, grades 4, 5, 6 and 7, are eligible to participate. Call the Backus office at 285-7225 for registration information.
American Indian Education program
Independent School District 361 American Indian Education program will conduct a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday at Falls High School, Room 224, 1515 11th St. All interested citizens are welcome to attend.
Parent-teacher conferences
Falls High School teachers will be available for parent-teacher conferences from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Stop in the office upon arrival to pick up information.
Women of the Moose
The Women of the Moose will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the clubrooms to finalize plan for the Oct. 20 Harvest Supper. at which turkey and all the trimmings will be served. Everyone is welcome.
‘Great Decisions’ discussion group
The “Great Decisions’ discussion group will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at International Falls Public Library in the lower level meeting room. Host will be Bob Philips. The topic will be “Promoting Democracy.” Contact Sue Nordquist for more information at 283-8687.
