New stroke support group

A new stroke support group for people living with the effects and challenges of stroke is set to meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the Fireside Room at Faith United Church of Christ (main floor, no steps). Facilitator is Sarah Monahan, speech language pathologist at Rainy Lake Medical Center hospital campus. Those who have had a stroke, are a spouse, family member, friend, or caretaker of someone who has had a stroke, are encouraged to attend. Ostomy group

The Ostomy Support Group will meet at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the community room at Rainy Lake Medical Center clinic campus. Karen Tveit, Senior Linkage Line outreach specialist, will be guest speaker.

 

Clothesline Giveaway

A ClothesLine Giveaway is planned for 2 to 7 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Full Gospel Fellowship, 1530 Sixth  Ave. W. Many different sizes of clothing will be available. There is no charge. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 283-2088.

 

Car show

A car show is planned for Sept. 22 at Oveson Pelican Lake Resort & Inn, located on Highway 53, Orr. No entry fees. Seven trophy classes  featured. Registration is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Judging from noon to 2:30 and awards presentation at 3:30. For more information, call 218-757-3613.

 

Community Cancer Walk

The Community Cancer Walk is set for 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at Bronco Arena. Funds raised will be distributed to local cancer patients to help with travel costs to and from treatment. Cost per participant is $5. Each will receive a fleece scarf. Coffee, hot chocolate, sloppy joes and desserts will be served. September Party

A September Party is planned for Wednesday at Koochiching County Senior Center. Entertainment by Borderland Don and Arnie will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be served at noon. Call 283-3460.

 

Scout sign-up

Boys in grades 1 through 5 interested in Scouting may sign up at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith United Church of Christ basement.

 

Parent Involvement Committee

The Parent Involvement Committee will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Falls Elementary School library. Meetings   will continue the first and third Tuesdays of the month throughout the year.

 

KEDA meeting

Koochiching Economic Development Authority Board will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the council chambers in the Falls Municipal Building.
