Holiday Preview
A Holiday Preview is set for Saturday at Faith United Church, 1001 Fifth St. Brunch will begin at 11 a.m. with doors opening at 10:30. Tree ideas, bake sale, shopping and accessorizing will be featured. Cost is $10 per person.
Free memory screenings
Littlefork Medical Center in cooperation with Koochiching Aging Options will provide free memory screenings Nov. 13 at 912 Main Street, Littlefork, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of National Memory Screening Day. Decker’s Family Assisted Living and Dementia Care will be hosting screenings at Ranier Roost, 3443 Pine Street, Ranier, from 10 to 6 and will also take appointments for later, more convenient screening times. Class of 1965 Girls
Falls High School Class of 1965 Girls will meet for lunch at noon Nov. 14 at Margarita’s Mexican Grill.
After Loss Group
The After Loss Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose Garden Restaurant.
Veterans Day program
Indus School students welcome the public to a Veterans Day program set for 2 p.m. Nov. 12 in the gymnasium. The event is an opportunity for students to honor area citizens who have served their country in the military. The program will be presented by the International Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars along with the Indus School National Honor Society. Students will present their written poems and essays and a few musical performances will also be featured. Following the program, refreshments will be served to veterans and participants will also have an opportunity to talk with students.
Christmas parade entries
International Falls Chamber of Commerce is calling for floats and all entries for the ’Twas the Lights Before Christmas Parade set for 7 p.m. Nov. 23. Any theme welcome, just add music and lights. First, second and third-place prizes at $300, $200 and $100. Singers and musicians are encouraged. Line-up is from 6 to 6:30 on Second Avenue, south of Falls Lumber; new parade route again this year. Necessary parade registration forms are available by calling the Chamber at 283-9400 or emailing chamber@intlfalls.org.
Medicare Part D enrollment
The 2013 annual enrollment period for Medicare Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Advantage Plans runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. During this time, persons may enroll in a plan if they did not previously enroll or change to a new plan. Changes then become effective Jan. 1. Those who do not make changes by Dec. 7, in most cases will not be able to change plans again until 2014. Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging will assist Medicare beneficiaries with 2013 Medicare research and enrollment. Trained volunteers and staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at Littlefork Medical Center Clinic. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Karen at 1-800-333-2433, ext 81010. Women’s Business Network
Women’s Business Network will gather from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Coffee Landing Café for a Mini Expo. Participants are asked to bring business products and services (gift certificates/brochures) to get a jump start on holiday shopping. Lunch is available for $10. The Women’s Business Network is for business and professional women who are committed to the growth and development of themselves, business and community. Teen gaming
International Falls Public Library will feature teen gaming from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Wiis and PS3 will be available, as well as board games. Refreshments provided. No registration needed.
