Local members of Call to Action, a Catholic organization seeking justice in church and society, will gather Nov. 9-11 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church to participate (via internet/live-stream) in the annual conference being staged this year in Louisville, Kent.

Members have traveled to Milwaukee for the past several years, but this year the venue was changed to hopefully allow for more people from the southern states to attend.

In October 1976, USA Bishops conducted the first conference in Detroit, Mich. Supported by their bishops, 1,351 lay, religious and clergy voted for an inclusive church open to women and married priests with shared decision-making and greater social justice.

Today, Call to Action has 25,000 national members and 53 local chapters making for many additional members who believe that the Spirit of God is at work in the whole church, not just in its appointed leaders.

Because CTA is a Catholic organization, it is open to all who are interested in promoting peace, justice, equality and inclusivity. It is not affiliated with any political party.

More information can be found at www.cta-usa.org. Anyone interested in participating in the weekend is welcome to call Gerry and Jackie Guimond at 807-274-5255.
