Our local dementia caregivers met Aug. 6 at the Holiday Inn. We had our faithful group, plus another new attendee. New coordinator Leslee Loop was also in attendance. She is the new coordinator on the aging, has a number of other groups she will also be working with.

The loss of Diane Windsnes as our past coordinator will certainly be a loss for our group, plus the other many agencies that she had been a part of.

It was nice also that we had another local caregiver in attendance. This lady is taking care of her husband and is finding out some of the resource information that may be able to help her in her journey that she is now going through.

I find it so difficult that we don’t have more attend our meeting, as we all know there are so many in this area that are trying to cope with their loved ones. This is a job that you need moral support, plus the fact so many have gone this long path with the ones we love.

This is the reason Norma and myself started this group. I know this might sound predisposed, but it is a fact and we and others in the group are there for anyone wanting or needing help to get through their troubled times. Prayer, moral support, respite care, family interest, and last but not least, your many friends and neighbors are there for you; if you only ask.

Our next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 3 at the Holiday Inn. All are welcome to attend.
