The local dementia caregivers support group met at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 2 at Barney’s Family Restaurant.
The group was small, but, as usual, we did find a lot to chat about. Several of our members had loved ones that have passed away, plus some are still fighting the battle and are having to place their loved ones into special care units. When this happens it is so hard as it is such a traumatic situation for all the family to have to cope with. We are there for all who are trying to handle these tough times in their lives.
Just thought I would let all of you know of the new building going on at the Vets Home in Silver Bay. I was up to the North Shore and thought it was time for me to go back once again and check this facility out, as my husband Sam was there for over three years. How amazed I was. This facility has been in major renovation for the last few years. It is just going to have so many new amenities for the clients. It is just amazing. So wonderful for these men and women. I would hope that possibly there could be a bus sponsored so that people would be able to tour the facility.
At 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28 a presentation will be conducted at Backus Community Center, presented by Esther Gieschen, regional director of the Alzheimer Association. Dr. Jeff Hardwig will also be in attendance. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
The next meeting will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 at Barney’s Family Restaurant. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
