Peter Graham Post and Auxiliary 2948 were host to the District 8 Loyalty Day meetings May 1-3. The Loyalty Day Program is located at the post where the district commander is from. This year’s district commander is Terry Randolph and district president is Linda Chezick. The last time a district commander was from Post 2948 was 10 years ago when Wayne Sampson filled such capacity.
The post and auxiliary had as their state representatives, Don Dallman, Minnesota’s junior vice commander and Terri Fenn, Minnesota’s auxiliary president.
Dallman presented Terry Randolph with the Diamond Jubilee Award. This award is presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States to commemorate 75 years of exceptional service to veterans. Peter Graham Post 2948 was mustered on Feb. 12, 1934.
Randolph and Chezick were each presented with a plaque from Ward Wallen of the Silver Bay Veterans Home. These plaques read “In recognition and appreciation of outstanding services of (Randolph and Chezick) VFW 8th District, May 2, 2009. Your unselfish and exceptional support of the Minnesota Veterans Home Silver Bay has enhanced the lives of our Veterans.” Both Randolph and Chezick had picked the Silver Bay Veterans Home as their project for this year. An auction was conducted with all proceeds going to Silver Bay.
