Licensed child care providers in Koochiching County may attend a free information session and dinner set for Monday at the AmericInn to find out more about state early childhood scholarships. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. with a program from 6:30 to 7:30.
Northland Foundation will feature dinner, networking and/or a brief program about the expanded scholarship guidelines, with time for questions.
The Foundation has available $1.9 million in state scholarship funds to administer in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties in order to help families pay for high-quality child care and early education for children up to age 5.
Scholarships are paid directly to the child care provider, up to $7,500 per child, per year.
Families that receive scholarships may choose any Parent Aware-participating child care or early childhood program for their child — a child care center, licensed family child care provider, school district prekindergarten or preschool program, or Head Start. New this year, families can choose providers that are 1, 2, 3 or 4-star.
To attend the session, RSVP email to Sandy@northlandfdn.org or call Northland Foundation for more information at 800-433-4045 or 218-723-4040.
