ElderCircle is seeking applicants to serve as Koochiching County representatives on its board of directors and on the newly-formed Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Community Advisory Group.
The mission of the ElderCircle organization is “to help seniors maintain their independence by linking them, their families and caregivers to services through programming, education, volunteer opportunities and advocacy.”
Two volunteer representatives from Koochiching County are needed to fill positions on the ElderCircle Board of Directors. Board terms are for three years, with opportunity to serve three terms. The board meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the ElderCircle office in Grand Rapids (or meeting via Skype may be possible). Board members must be committed to the mission of ElderCircle and the needs of older adults. Mileage reimbursement is available.
The mission of the ElderCircle RSVP program is “to engage adults 55+ in volunteer service to support the independence and well-being of seniors and to experience the health benefits of volunteering.”
Five volunteer representatives are needed to fill positions on the newly-formed Koochiching County RSVP Advisory Group. Group members will serve a three-year term, will be committed to the mission of ElderCircle RSVP and will provide RSVP programming support in Koochiching County. The group will meet quarterly (March, June, September and December) at noon at a designated location within the county. Mileage reimbursement is available.

ElderCircle is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization located in Itasca County and sponsors two federally-funded programs, RSVP and SCSEP, that provide services in Koochiching County.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, RSVP, is a national Senior Corps program that engages adults age 55 and over with service opportunities that help address local community needs and build healthy communities. RSVP offers "one stop shopping" for volunteers who want to find challenging, rewarding, and significant service opportunities, and who want to experience the health benefits of volunteering.
RSVP is a national community service and work-based training program for older workers. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides subsidized, service-based training for low-income persons 55 or older who are unemployed and have poor employment prospects.
This job training and placement program fosters and promotes part-time employment opportunities to low-income individuals at nonprofit agencies to develop their job skills.
