The International Falls Lions Club met May 3 at Barney’s Family Restaurant due to changes made at the Holiday Inn which was our regular meeting place.
Following the minutes and treasurers report, the following correspondence was reviewed: Lions All-Star Baseball Tournament, Friendship Ventures, Lions Dog Guides Newsletter, invitation to Chamber of Commerce Appreciation Dinner, 45th Charter Night of Fort Frances Lions Club, the increase of chamber dues, American Diabetes Needlepoint Camp and a thank you from Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Dick Briese announced that a new club will be chartered May 25 in Emo, Ontario. The club gave them $50 start up money.
“Everything you want to know about Lions” is the topic of a training session May 8 in Atikokan, Ontario.
Briese reported on the blood screening at the Home and Building Show. Many contacts were made and pamphlets handed out.
Following a committee meeting, Caryn Noland reported on the Fall Health Fair which will be staged at the International Mall in September.
Nominations were closed for officers for 2010-11: President, Dick Schaak; vice president, Dick Briese; secretary, Karen Briese; treasurer, Serene Milette; and Tail Twister, Betty Villalta. Board members include Kevin Grover and John Roche.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 7 at Almost Lindy’s.
