The International Falls Lions Club met Jan. 4. President Dick Schaak opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the invocation offered by Beverly Mayfield.

The secretarys report was given by Karen Briese, treasurers report by Serene Milette and mint and gumball report by Kirby Wilcox.

Discussion was on the Parade of Green for the Mid-Winter Convention. Dick Briese named the organizations we normally donate to and we will decide the dollar amount at the February meeting.

A thank you letter was received from the STRIVE mentors. Letters of request were from Spring Point Project and Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We were reminded that used hearing aids can be collected as well as used eyeglasses. These are turned in at Mid-Winter Convention which will be in Duluth Feb. 5-7.

A Multiple District Convention will be held at Mahnomen April 23-25.

The money raised at our Christmas auction will be used to do a diabetes screening at the schools and United Health Care.

Ice melt sales are doing well. There is a full shipment on hand now, so pick up your 40-pound pail from Briese Agency on Hwy. 11E. This ice melt is not harmful to pets, grass or seasoned sidewalks.

Jim and Val Martindale from the Fort Frances Voyageurs Club were our guests and spoke on the Leo Club and sponsoring two new clubs at Baudette and Emo Jan. 25-27. Paul Baker will give a presentation on expanding the club Jan. 25. The other two days will be spent recruiting and organizing the new clubs.

The next meeting will be Feb. 1 at the Holiday Inn.
