Good Samaritan Society-International Falls Staff Report
The Certified Nursing Assistant, Volunteer and Employee of the Year annual award winners at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls were announced at a cake and punch social at the center March 27.
Brad Bounds received the CNA award, Punky Stadum received the Volunteer award, and Bonnie Lagoo received the Employee award.
Anyone including staff, residents, family members, friends, and visitors, could nominate winners. The selection committee comprised of several Good Samaritan Society staff members and last year’s winners chose the final winners.
Brad Bounds — CNA of the Year
Bounds has worked for Good Samaritan Society-International Falls for 29 years in August. “Brad gets the human side of caring, the depth of his love, compassion and caring for residents is deep and has an even deeper meaning to him. He is strong advocate for the persons living here and is not afraid to challenge or question a process. He is dependable and committed. He takes exceptional care of those under his care,” said Director of Nursing Sharon Kostiuk.
Punky Stadum — Volunteer of the Year
Stadum has been volunteering at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls since February 2011. She has volunteered 110.5 hours of her own time just in the months of January and February 2012. “Punky is amazing with people. I’ve never seen someone with so much energy. She’s full of spirit and compassion. She brings energy, happiness, and warmth every time she enters a room,” said Resident Services Assistant Rebecca Carlson.
Bonnie Lagoo — Employee of the Year
Lagoo has worked for Good Samaritan Society-International Falls for four years. “Bonnie comes to work every day full of energy and enthusiasm. She treats each resident with dignity, respect, and is concerned about their total well being. She always has a smile on her face and knows how to bring out the best in people,” said Director of Resident Services Sue Zaren.
Local award winners will be nominated to the national Good Samaritan Society level.
