The regular meeting of the Veterans of Foreign Wars was called to order at 7 p.m. March 13 by president Pat DeLapp.

The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers was conducted with Diane Kelly, secretary pro-tem. No memberships were received. General orders were read along with the correspondences. Minutes were read from previous meeting no corrections; approved as read. The treasurer report was distributed and looked over; motion made by Linda Chezick and seconded by Lori Nicodemus to dispense with reading of treasurers report. They were approved as read subject to audit.

Bills were submitted and approved and paid. Motion by Irene Anderson and seconded by Nicodemus. Committee reports were read by Anderson, Chezick and Dawn Flesland.

Donations were made to the Armed Forces, Minnesota Scholarships, Marcella Arnold Nursing Scholarship, Department President gift , Ways and Means for the district, Health and Happiness, and the Mighty Mustangs.

Year-end reports are due at the end of March.

A donation was received by Mary LePage.

DeLapp reported taco nights doing well, however, volunteers are still needed for Mondays in April and May, and for preparation also.

Pies were canceled in Littlefork this month. We will be doing pies are planned for April 6 at the Good Samaritan Society-International Falls. Those wishing to assist should be there at 2:15 p.m.

Nursing home Bingo is the third Thursday of each month, at which volunteers are also needed.

Poppies will be set for May and Memorial Day is May 29.

The Auxiliary will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. March 29 at the VFW dining room in honor of Viet Nam Day. All veterans are welcome, as well as family, friends and all who wish to honor veterans. Veterans eat free and others have a suggested donation of $5. DeLapp asked for a motion to put an ad in The Journal for the event, as there is only a short time to plan. Motion was made by Nicodemus, seconded by Kelly; motion carried. Members will be called upon to help with the event. Those wishing to help are asked to notify a VFW member.

Audit was read and approved.

April 28-30 is the District Meeting in Cloquet for Loyalty Days.

The next meeting will be April 11 with an election of officers. Members are encouraged to attend.

Good of the Order: Volunteer to help with the breakfast and support the tacos on Mondays, and come to meeting next month.
