Lions Club

The Oct. 5 meeting of the International Falls Lions Club at Lenard’s was called to order by president Lion Kevin Grover.

The minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved.

Old Business included:

Approval to send photo of the first prize winner of the grocery raffle to The Journal and pay the cost for publication.

Start getting everything needed in order to begin selling third grocery raffle tickets by April.

Next meeting members should try to bring five names they would like to invite to the Membership dinner meeting. Organize so that it can take place in January.

The Christmas party was discussed and is set for Dec. 5 at Lenard’s. As in years past, it will be an auction, with dinner.

Lion Dick Briese will bring a list of businesses to the next meeting that auction items can be received from.

Guest speaker Joanne Ogden, zone chair, of Emo, Ontario, discussed membership. Ogden is well qualified as 11 new members were brought in last month.

Members are encouraged to continue working to bring in new members by thinking outside the box. A reminder was extended to make sure members inform the public of all projects done for the community.

The meeting was adjourned.

The next gathering is set for 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at Lenard’s.
