Good Samaritan Society will celebrate National Volunteer Week April 10-16.

National Volunteer Week is a special time to honor volunteers for their contributions. The Good Samaritan Society – International Falls plans to recognize its volunteers through a variety of activities, including a Volunteer Appreciation Tea from 2 to 3 p.m. April 12 at River’s Edge Villa.

Last year, volunteers at Good Samaritan Society – International Falls shared their friendship and personal interests in a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including leading craft projects, playing music, singing, cooking and baking. Residents and staff are grateful for every hour given.

“Volunteers play an important role in fulfilling our mission of sharing God’s love in word and deed,” says Administrator Adam Coe. “Our volunteers inspire residents, their families, staff members and others through the simple act of sharing their gifts of time and talent.”

National Volunteer Week began in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing an annual celebration of volunteering. Today, the special week is sponsored by the Points of Light Institute.

The Good Samaritan Society – International Falls is part of The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, the nation’s leading not-for-profit provider of senior care and services. The Good Samaritan Society’s mission is to share God’s love in word and deed. We serve our residents with compassion and understanding, believing that “In Christ’s Love, Everyone Is Someone.”
