RRCC lab

New health care lab at Rainy River Community College.

Rainy River Community College and Koochiching Economic Development Authority will host a health care forum and open house from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 9.

Immediately following the forum, the public is welcome to tour the newly remodeled health care lab at RRCC, located in Room SS-145.

The $311,000 renovations of the 1,920 square foot space were completed in August. The newly renovated lab boasts five complete nursing stations with current, functional headwall systems, and with significant additional capabilities for advanced clinical simulation including upgraded simulation equipment and manikins.

According to Suzanne Aldrich, director of nursing at Itasca Community College, “The updated simulation equipment and lab space will bring nursing education in International Falls to a great, new level.” The remodeling project was funded through State of Minnesota Bonding, with design by Architectural Resources of Hibbing and construction by Up North Builders of International Falls.

“From an economic/community development perspective, having quality healthcare in our community is critical. While there has been tremendous investment in facilities and technology, having a shortage of health care workers is a serious issue that ultimately affects us all. This is an opportunity for stakeholders to explore solutions while at the same time creating job opportunities,” indicates Paul Nevanen, KEDA director.
