Tuesday Musicale gathered for their traditional potluck dinner to kick off the 2015-16 season at the home of Jeannine Nelson. A special treat of Judy Peterson’s chocolate brownies was enjoyed by all. Members were welcomed by president Linda Torseth and the meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m.
Sunshine committee reported several members having health concerns. Patt Thorpe is now residing in Texas, Marcia Bringedahl is moving to Goldpine Home in Bemidji and Francie Nemec-Green is at home following several back surgeries. Members discussed ways to help out, such as delivering meals to those homebound and sending cards of encouragement. Judy Peterson will get updated addresses. You can get that information by calling her at 283-3845.
A discussion on whether to continue having evening meetings or plan a noon lunch was tabled, to allow Torseth to check on possible lunch site options. Also discussed was the possibility to have meetings only in the months there is active business to attend to, such as Christmas, the T.E.T Dinner, Scholarships and the Showcase. This can change, as the need arises. Members agreed that this was a good idea, especially for the winter months.
Fliers for the 2015-16 Backus Performing Arts and the Border Concert Association were distributed.
Secretary Sharalyn Schaak reminded members that Tuesday Musicale will be the volunteer serving group Dec. 29 for Community Café at Backus.
The next meeting is planned for 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at the home of Judy Peterson, 4168 Hwy 11.
